Frequently Asked Questions

What does it cost to participate? Thanks to corporate sponsors and generous individuals our program is free to participants. Players receive a t-shirt and hat when they sign up and as needed in future years or when they move onto other teams. All equipment is provided, and families enjoy a free hot dog dinner and social time on game nights. Additional sponsors are always needed so please contact the Director, Jen Johnson, if interested in contributing. Any amount helps!

What equipment do you use? We use metal bats, of various sizes, and regulation size baseballs that are a soft fabric. We use regular baseball gloves and offer a T for anyone who needs one to bat. All equipment is provided but we do encourage players to bring their own mitt, if possible, to guarantee that one that they fit into is available. All players are required to wear batting helmets while hitting. Many players bring their own equipment but it is not required.

What do the players need to wear? On practice day players can wear any comfortable clothing. On game days, please wear your provided Miracle League uniform, consisting of a team t-shirt and hat. Closed toe athletic shoes are required. Players wearing cleats or open toed sandals will not be allowed onto the field. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are highly recommended.

What skills or experience does the athlete need? NONE!! We coach to each child’s skill level and have vastly different abilities on each team. This goes for volunteers also. All are welcome! All players bat and play in the field each inning. Nobody is called out and each player advances one base per batter. The final player is the “Home Run” hitter.

What is the time commitment? We play weeknights, Monday – Thursday only. Each player will have one practice and one game per week. A total of about 2.5 hours per week.

What ages can play? Ages 3-6 play in a shortened introductory league called Mini-Miracles. Ages 6-Adult play in a recreational league. Competitive and skilled players, ages 16-adult, may also select to play in an extended season with more strict baseball rules.
